Eating wisely can be fun and tasty. Really. Take one of Roxanne Van Veldhuizen's classes or a class from Mary Beth Jaggard to find out just how interesting healthy food can be and how easy it is to prepare. Yesterday, within 10 minutes, I had grilled salmon with pesto sauce and steamed asparagus. Yummmm. That may not be to your taste, but Roxanne can show you how to prepare foods you enjoy so they add to your healthy eating menu.
Heading
the Blue Zone Eat initiatives are Roxanne Van Veldhuizen, Mercy Hospital Dietitian and
Autumn Kelly, OCSD Food Service Director.
Those initiatives include healthy cooking clubs, working with
restaurants and grocery stores to identify and publicize healthy choices on
their menus. In addition Ron
VanVeldhuizen and Scott Smalley will head up a group to promote growing fresh
produce in the community garden plots.
If food is your thing, call Roxanne or Autumn. They will need a group of enthusiastic volunteers to help us turn the corner from eating healthy occasionally to eating healthy naturally all the time.
If you are a gardener and want to help people with starting community gardens (or even individual backyard gardens) call.
