If you have read Dan Buettner's book or heard him speak, you know that he and his research team found that diet and exercise aren't the only things that are essential for good heath. Connecting with others is a big part of staying
healthy. You need friends and family you can count on. You need to have people around you that are positive and help keep others thinking positively. That certainly fits with Oelwein's Postively Oelwein campaign. Positive individuals in a positive community. Connecting or reconnecting with your faith is another component of longevity and good health.
This initiative will be headed
by Barb Schmitz, Elementary Guidance Counselor (and winner of the Christmas Grinch contest) and Terri
Zuck, At-Risk teacher. They will look
for opportunities to bring families, friends, faith-based groups, and
neighborhoods together for group activities. Are you interested in working with Barb and Terri? If you are, let them know. They are looking for at least a dozen people to work with them to develop activities that bring people together such as walking groups or biking groups, family or neighborhood nights out. They need all kinds of people...people with imagination, people who can get things organized, people who can motivate others, people who are excited about the mission to connect with others for good health. Let us hear from you!
